Acupuncture For Children
Chinese Medicine can be used to treat most childhood illness as well as mental-emotional health issues, we can also support older children and young adults.
Often this holistic approach means less medication and less visits to the doctor for your child. Chinese Medicine is gaining in popularity for children and babies because of its safe and effective approach to treating illness.
As well as the condition that is being treated, parents often find that their child’s general immunity and constitution improves, that their children are more resilient and healthy.
A Gentle Treatment For Children
Holistic treatments for children include acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion, massage, cupping, dietary and lifestyle advice. Every child is unique, some respond well and enjoy acupuncture, while other children gain benefit from moxibustion (gentle heat therapy) or point stimulation and massage. If acupuncture needles are used on babies and young children, a gentle technique means it is a delicate “in-out” treatment that takes little time and uses very fine, thread-like needles.
Melanie Leeson has a postgraduate diploma in treating children with acupuncture, taught by Julian Scott, and Rebecca Avern, both leading experts in paediatric acupuncture. Both Kerry Wood and Tiffany Black have completed postgraduate training in treating older children and teenagers.

I took my three year old child to see Melanie as he was suffering with terrible tantrums. The tantrums were extreme, way beyond “the terrible twos”. He was also suffering from night sweats and night terrors.
I can now report that, only after a few treatments, my son’s tantrums and night terrors have completely stopped. I cannot thank Melanie enough, her professionalism and knowledge of Chinese medicine has helped us all as a family. She has been brilliant with our child and I would highly recommend her to anyone considering acupuncture for children.
